Sarah Darer Littman holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Duke University. She earned an MBA in finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University, and worked as a financial analyst for five years before meeting her ex-husband. She spent the next ten years helping to run his family’s substantial estate in rural southwest England. There, she brought the farm into the computer age and managed the finances of the cheese manufacturing business. Upon returning Stateside, Sarah pursued a lifelong dream of being a writer, and is now an award-winning author of books for teens. Her first novel, CONFESSIONS OF A CLOSET CATHOLIC won the 2006 Sydney Taylor Award for Older Readers, is on the Chicago Public Library “Best of the Best” List, the International Reading Association’s “Children’s Choice” List, was a YALSA Popular Paperback for Young Adults and has nominated for the 2008 Rodda Award as well as several state awards. Her second novel, PURGE, will be published by Scholastic Press in April 2009. She was a political columnist for the Stamford Advocate/Greenwich Time from January 2003 through July 2008, where she gained a following due to her outspoken views. Sarah does freelance business writing and also blogs at CT Local Politics , and at her own two blogs: saramerica, where she discusses politics and It’s My Life and I’ll Blog if I Want To! where she muses about the joys and tribulations of parenting and the writing life.
