About 15 years ago I heard a ‘rumor’ that there were Coyote at Tod’s Point. Soon after I saw three Coyote running across Sound Beach Avenue coming from Wesskum Wood Road into the 1st Congregational Churches graveyard. Tonight as I was biking in the dark at 815PM I spotted a lone Coyote running from Wesskum to the Grave Yard. 15 years ago after the sighting no one was talking about Coyotes. 15 years ago I called the Police about the Coyote, the dispatcher said, “We dont chase Coyote”. I can see why…they are crafty and probably really hard to catch. A few years ago Greenwich Time had a story about a Coyote that was caught in some type of trap and was maybe running around with the trap around it’s leg. This happened in a Private area of Riverside. And one Summer I anchored my boat in Old Greenwich harbor, I heard a Coyote howling…it was a cool audible experience…it might not be cool if one of them grabbed my cat. PS: 2 more Coyote stories. I was driving along Mary Lane in the Havemeyer Park area of Riverside…a Coyote ‘joggin’ on my right along the edge of the street…not on the sidewalk…had a very intent look on it’s Coyote face…didn’t pay a stitch of attention to me driving by. The other story…my Daughter said a Coyote was paying visits to a Pear Tree near her in Cos Cob, picking up the pears that fell from the tree. I didn’t even know there was a Pear Tree in Greenwich. One day soon after I was driving with Bailey, and as we pulled away from a STOP sign…the Coyote that was going South on Bible Street saw my car coming at it, not intentionally…and became frightened up against a small rise with no apparent escape. We slowly drove by this second daylight sighting experience. Email me your Coyote experience right now at Projecticewalker@aol.com.
