Emergency management sources in Greenwich have told OurGreenwich.com that it could be a week — perhaps longer — before power is restored to some parts of town.
Utility crews, including “mutual assistance” teams from as far away at Quebec are helping to store power. The restoration by CL&P is being done based on a list of priorities developed in conjunction with government officials, so “mission critical” places (e.g., sewage treatment plant) and the most vulnerable (e.g., Nathaniel Witherell) are being restored first.
One source indicated CL&P elected NOT to have the crews work through the night on Saturday because the storm was continuing at that time. Apparently, the out-of-state crews did not work last night because they needed to rest from the drive into Connecticut.
In a related story, the Greenwich Post is reporting that Gov. Rell declared Greenwich in a state of emergency. Here is a link to that story.
