BREAKING NEWS: Major Gas Leak in Greenwich Stops MetroNorth Trains, Halts Traffic

August 10, 2009, 10:30 p.m.  — According to Greenwich Emergency Services dispatch as monitored on the Internet there is a major propane gas leak (approximately 500 gallon tank) on Field Point Road at a welding supply company.  Police and Fire Officials are on the scene and are evaluating the area.   MetroNorth is stopping all trains.  No one is permitted beyond Horseneck Lane.  Traffic is being stopped at Railroad and Arch Streets.

    My husband is stuck on a Metro North train outside of Greenwich. It is 12:30 Am. Thanks for the info.

    On one of the metro north trains stuck in new rochelle. They told us a half hour. It’s been over an hour. Some people got off and took taxi’s to their westport destination. New rochelle to new haven would be quite an expensive fare. Afraid this could take all night. So much for the new quick train service to yankee stadium.
