Celebrating the Inauguration

Letter to the Editor:

Wouldn’t it be great if every television set in public places, schools, retail establishments, etc. are turned on and open to the public on Tuesday morning, January 20th at 10 a.m. to show the Inauguration events, including the oath of office, prayers, speeches, and parade.

So many of Connecticut citizens cannot be in Washington along with the 4,000,000 people lucky enough to experience the event first hand. Couldn’t we all do the next best thing, that is opening up the doors in town so we can huddle together, pretend we are in Washington, and partake of the historic event taking place.

Put the red, white, and blue out front of your establishment and have a sign saying “Open House – Watch the Inauguration from inside – ALL WELCOME” Get creative, maybe serve some coffee and donuts. Many of us from Connecticut Towns want to be with others to watch the event.

Post script: Peter Tesei said he is planning to have the Greenwich Library and the Town Hall Meeting Room opened to the public for watching the Inauguration on January 20th. He said, “I view this as a celebration of our democracy and seeing the orderly transfer of power being a true reflection of what makes our Country so great”.

Great going Peter!! Let’s hope all of Connecticut follows his lead and opens their doors! Happy Inauguration everyone!
