Upbeat Democrats picnic at Pinetum

With polls showing the “Palin bounce” is fading and that Obama has regained his pre-convention lead over Senator John McCain, the mood was both determined and upbeat at the Greenwich Democratic Town Committee picnic held on Sunday at the Garden Education Center at the Montgomery Pinetum in Cos Cob.

Selectman Lin Lavery, former Senate candidate Ned Lamont, Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy, State Senate candidate Mark Diamond, State Rep candidate Ed Krumeich and Congressional District 4 candidate Jim Himes all emphasized the historic nature of the upcoming election.

“I don’t think many of us have been through an election where there is this much at stake,” Himes said. “These next two months really matter.”

Krumeich, who lost to incumbent Dolly Powers by a mere 132 votes in a heavily Republican district in the last election, pledged to bring together Democrats, moderate Republicans and unaffiliated voters to give Greenwich its first bipartisan delegation to the State Legislature in over 50 years. He is running against former RTC chairman Fred Camillo.
