GPD Community Impact Section Makes Arrest

Congratulations are in order for the Greenwich Police Department Community Impact Section!

The GPD Community Impact Section officers have been doing surveillance at the Edge Fitness Club/Walgreens Parking lot this week after two recent car break-ins on 8/25 and 8/26.  In both incidents the suspect entered the Fitness Edge and removed car keys from fellow gym members which had placed them onto a peg board in the main lobby. The suspect would then enter the vehicle and remove only 1-2 credit cards and then return the keys to the peg board. The suspect would then make several unauthorized charges at Staples, Shoprite, Stop n Shop before the victim realized their credit cards were stolen.

On Tuesday, the Community Impact Section along with members of the Patrol Division arrested James A. Reseau, 33, of 23 Carolina Road, Stamford, CT.

An Edge Fitness observed Reseau leave the gym and then place a set of car keys on the key board when he returned. The employee knew the keys belonged to a female gym member. Aware of prior motor vehicle burglaries in the parking lot, the employee called the female gym member and the Police.

When Reseau left the gym, Members of the Community Impact Section stopped him and discovered he had an iPhone charger that the woman reported missing. A Subsequent search of Reseau  revealed that he had a pair of credit cards, a gift card and $20 cash, all items that the woman identified as her property secreted in his sock.

Reseau was charged with Burglary 3rd, Larceny 6th, Identity Theft,Credit Card Theft, Interfering with an Officer.

Proceeds from the past two incidents were located in his vehicle and an arrest warrant will be forthcoming.
