Citizens Police Academy
September 2nd through November 11, 2010
Update: Course of Instructions finalized
The Citizens Police Academy is a program that provides Greenwich residents with a first hand overview of the law enforcement and community related functions of the Greenwich Police Department. Topics of instruction have been finalized for this class and will include: Patrol Operations, Use of Force, Motor Vehicle Stops, Traffic Accident Investigations, Community Impact Section, Marine Operations, Domestic Violence Investigations, The Connecticut Court System, Youth / Juvenile Investigation, School Resource Officer , Narcotics Investigations, Crime Scene Processing, Special Response Unit , Police K-9 demonstration.
There is no fee for the twelve-week program and any Greenwich resident 21 years of age or older may apply. A criminal history background check will be performed on all applicants. Qualified applicants will be subject to a lottery drawing to determine the final class roster. There are currently several available seats. Application can be downloaded from the police website:
