At approximately 0103 hours November 21, 2009 a Greenwich Police Officer patrolling the area of 1700 East Putnam Avenue encountered a male subject who had sustained a head injury. Subsequent investigation revealed that the male was an employee of the Mobil on the Run service station, located at 1429 East Putnam Avenue, and that an armed robbery had just occurred there.
The male subject, a 37 year old resident of Bridgeport, was subsequently transported by Greenwich Emergency Medical Services to Greenwich hospital for treatment of gunshot wound to the head.
The injury does not appear to be life threatening and no one else was injured. Investigation revealed that shortly before 0100 hours, a lone black male subject armed with a handgun entered the establishment and demanded cash from the clerk.
The clerk complied, did not offer resistance and after handing over the cash on hand, he was shot in the back of the head. His injury was not provoked.
The suspect then fled the area with an undetermined amount of cash.A search of the area of or the suspect was unsuccessful.
Description of the suspect is as follows: Male black, approximately 20-30 years of age, 6’, 200 lbs, muscular build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black footwear.
