GPD Reports in a press release:
During the month of April 2009, the Greenwich Police Department focused their efforts on enforcing the laws relative to using turn signals on the roadways to signal the driver’s intention.
For the month of April, Greenwich Police Officers issued seven citations for that particular violation. During the same period in 2008 two citations were issued and in 2007 no violations were issued for failure to use turn signals.
In addition, for the month of April 2009, 145 motor vehicle crashes were reported to the Greenwich Police Department, and in April 2008 136 collisions were reported to the Police. April 2007 showed 142 total crashes in Greenwich.
The focus for the month of May 2009 will be on seat belts. As May begins a nationwide initiative of the use of front seat belts, the Greenwich Police Department will join all other agencies in CT, as well as across the country, in aggressively enforcing the State’s mandatory seatbelt law.
Motorists are encouraged to wear their seatbelt anytime they are in the car and to ensure their passengers do as well.
