BREAKING NEWS: 2nd Arrest in Field Vandalism Case

As reported here yesterday, Greenwich Police made a second arrest in the ball-field vandalism case.  The GPD reports as follows:

On Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 3:45 P.M. the below identified individual appeared at Police Headquarters and turned himself in on an active arrest warrant held by this department charging him with violating sections of Title 53a of the Connecticut General Statutes-Penal Code.

Arrestee: Youthful Offender, Age 17, DOB 03/07/1992, of Cos Cob, CT Charge(s):

Criminal Mischief 1st Degree (2 counts) CGS 53a-115 (A Class “D” Felony)*

Conspiracy to commit (Criminal Mischief 1st) (2 counts) CGS-53a-48(53a-115) (A Class “D” Felony)*

The arrest warrant was the result of complaints of vandalism to town owned playing fields in the Cos Cob and Back country area of town during the early morning hours of Sunday, March 15, 2009 which rendered the fields unusable with an estimated cost to repair the two fields in the amount of $32,000.

The Youthful Offender was released on a Promise to Appear and given an assigned Court Date to appearance in Stamford Superior Court on April 22, 2009.

*A Class “D” Felony is punishable by not less than 1 year nor more than 5 years and/or fine up to $5000, with the exception of the following: Not less than 2 years nor more than 5 years for convictions under 53-60b and not less than 3 years nor more than 5 years for convictions under 53a-60c. (53a-60b-Assault in the second degree of en elderly, blind, disabled, mentally retarded or pregnant person, 53a-60c Assault in the second degree with a firearm on an elderly, blind, disable, mentally retarded or pregnant person).
