4,000 Turkeys needed!

With Thanksgiving days away, the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County is in dire need of holiday turkeys.

Last year, the food bank, whose mission is to feed the hungry in Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford and Wilton, provided 3,634 holiday turkeys to its member agencies, such as Neighbor To Neighbor, and the Domestic Violence Crisis Centers both in Greenwich.

As of November 6, the Food Bank had agency requests for 5,000 turkeys, and as of this morning the number needed is now 7,000.  But only 3,000 birds have been contributed so far, according to Kathleen Lombardo, the group’s Executive Director, in an interview on Greenwich radio station WGCH.  Lombardo said that past donors are now recipients of help, in her interview with WGHC News Director Tony Savino.
